An antique 9ct gold mourning pendant steeped in Victorian sentiment. The oval face features delicate blue enamel work and seed pearls, while the reverse reveals a lock of hair—a tangible connection to a cherished memory.
Mourning Jewellery was particularly popular in the Victorian era. Worn to remember a loved one who had died, a connection to the deceased. Inspired by Queen Victoria herself who wore mourning jewellery after the death of her husband Prince Albert. Sometimes the jewellery would contain a lock of hair as this pendant does. Victorians believed that hair possessed the essence of that person. With this pendant you can own a piece of sentimental history.
